Summary
DEFENDING champion Stewart Cink knows a thing or two about playing to the crowds at the last hole, having won at Turnberry 12 months ago, and he finished his third round in style. Having driven just short of the green he rolled in a lengthy putt for an eagle two, taking him back into red figures on one under. 'I guess it was about 50 feet,' said the American. 'I hit three-wood off the tee because I was fearful of going through the back. I pulled my putter out of my bag before I left the tee. I told my caddie, "It's nice to have a long walk with a putter". It was a really long walk, 340 yards.'
IN THE increasingly anodyne world of sportsmen and bland quotes, Australian Robert Allenby gave a very frank appraisal of how he sees the game. Asked if it was frustrating when he missed relatively straightforward putts, he replied: 'I can only do my best and if it's not whatever I want it to be then stiff ****.'
