So, we said Yes to Lisbon! Well, 67 per cent of us did anyway. Difficult decision it was in the end, if you were to just go by the posters in the final few days of campaigning. The last-minute heartshaped placards on the lampposts urged 'No'. The ones in the shape of a speech bubble advocated 'Yes'.

I mean, which is better, if you were to judge purely on shape? Heart or speech bubble? The speech bubble was probably the response of the Yes side to the late-in-the-campaign survey of 'advertising experts' who said the No campaign had more punch. 'We'd better get into the cut-out game too,' they must have thought. 'We don't want to lose this just because we stuck to boring rectangles.' Yep, it looked that bonkers to me.
