Summary

The Dark Water, by David Pirie Arrow Pounds 6.99 . Pounds 5.99 (0870 165 0870) **** This is the third book in Pirie's series featuring the adventures of the young Arthur Conan Doyle before he invented Sherlock Holmes. Although the book stands alone in its own right, it throws the reader into the thick of the action from the start, without explaining what has happened in earlier books. So if you're a newcomer I would strongly advise not beginning here.

Doyle finds himself again at the mercy of his nemesis, the sadistic serial killer Cream. Doyle tracks him to the East Coast where he has hatched a fiendish scheme. The story continues at a terrific lick, and if you're a fan of Holmes you'll have fun spotting the literary allusions.
