Although the book stands alone in its own right, it throws the reader into the thick of the action from the start, without explaining what has happened in earlier books. So if you're a newcomer I would strongly advise not beginning here.
Doyle finds himself again at the mercy of his nemesis, the sadistic serial killer Cream. Doyle tracks him to the East Coast where he has hatched a fiendish scheme.
