Complaints about shoddy service from banks and other financial companies hit new heights last year. And it's about to get worse. Consumer groups warn that as banks and other institutions embark on rounds of savage cost-cutting such as shifting thousands of customer service jobs to Asia standards are set to slump even further.

Barclays is the latest in a string of financial companies to announce that 500 office jobs are being switched to India, but union representatives estimate that up to 6,000 jobs could eventually go from the bank.
