Summary
The DLR Glasthule Opera festival, featuring young Irish singers, is welcome newcomer to the Irish opera scene. It opens in The Pavilion Dun Laoghaire on Tuesday with great Puccini favourite, La Boheme, and alternates until Saturday with a double bill of Riders To The Sea by Vaughan Williams and The Wandering Scholar by Gustav Holst. Among the leads will be John Molloy, Ross Scanlon and Emily Alexander.
This is the final week of the Cork Midsummer Festival. Midsummer, at the Half Moon Theatre, WedSun 8.30pm is a quirky love story with songs, set in Edinburgh, about a great lost weekend. Thirtysomethings Bob and Helena are sitting in a bar. He's a petty criminal and she's a divorce lawyer with a taste for other people's husbands. They should not sleep together. Which is why they do.
