MATT HOLLAND has quit international football with the Republic of Ireland - and given his Charlton manager, Alan Curbishley, a glowing reference to succeed Sven Goran Eriksson as England coach.

Holland, 31 and a star of Ireland's 2002 World Cup campaign, revealed his decision to stand down from international duty to The Mail on Sunday as he prepared for Charlton's London derby at Tottenham today.
