THE UNITED States national team took on El Salvador last night hoping to cement their perfect start to the final round of qualifying from CONCACAF, now in a six-team league format known as the Hexagonal. El Salvador have not reached this stage for 12 years and could yet edge out Mexico or Costa Rica in qualifying.
Their campaign so far, though, has been overshadowed by controversy: first were allegations of racism during a preliminary World Cup qualifier against Panama last June, in which El Salvador turned a 2-0 aggregate deficit into a 3-2 win after two Panamanians were dismissed and they took advantage in the last 20 minutes.See the full content of this document
