Summary
THERE'S no danger round at Royal Bank of Scotland that we taxpayers are underwriting lavish expenditure. One of the bank's more senior bods was out of town on business and used company funds, as is customary, to buy himself dinner - for Pounds 33. Back home, he learnt that he had broken a Pounds 30 limit and owed RBS Pounds 3 - although, bizarrely, he could have spent Pounds 40 had he eaten in his hotel. Cash? Certainly not, he was told. Only a cheque would do.
