Summary
Rock 'n' roll offers one of the easier avenues to rebellion. Strike a pose; there's nothing to it. You might risk a few unkind words. At worst, the authorities will take an interest in your leisure pursuits. But nobody's going to lock you up for making music. More's the pity, in some cases.
Unless, that is, you are The Plastic People Of The Universe (often abbreviated to PPU), the Czech outfit born of the Prague Spring.
