THIS IS normally the stage of the season when managers are dusting off their contacts books and renewing old scouting acquaintances. This year, though, all is pretty quiet in the offices of League of Ireland clubs.

Two weeks before the transfer window opens and few managers are anticipating doing any business during the month of July. In the words of one, 'there is absolutely no money in the game at the moment and, as a consequence, it will be a very quiet window.'
