ENGLAND face certain defeat in the fourth Ashes Test this morning after their already slim hopes of saving the match were blown away at Headingley by a rampant Australia.

First, England captain Andrew Strauss saw Ricky Ponting's men amass a first-innings lead of 343 runs, Marcus North completing his second century of the series with 110 as they were all out for 445. Then England slumped to 82 for five in their second innings and now need a miracle to make the Aussies bat again. England's dismal batting means they have lost 15 wickets in this Test in only five hours at the crease spread over the first two days.
