LAST week's Mail on Sunday story revealing that Northern Rock, the bank taken over by the Government, has been accused of selling off repossessed homes at knockdown prices provoked a huge response from readers. Many felt the system appeared to benefit get-rich- quick property developers rather than struggling families, but others pointed out that as banks owned the homes, they should be allowed to do what was required to recoup losses..

It's disgusting that 'repo hunters' are back. If people are going through hardship and can't pay the mortgage I can understand, in principle, the house being repossessed if the building society wants its money back.
