ALAN SHEARER last night insisted he can still keep his beloved Newcastle in the Premier League despite his glorious homecoming falling flat as he lost his first game as stand-in manager.
A 2-0 home defeat by Chelsea leaves Newcastle three points from safety but Shearer, who was given a standing ovation as he made his way to the home dugout for the start of his eightmatch reign, said: 'I am confident we can stay up.
