HAVING a car seat in the correct position helps to save you from injury. Driving trainer Dave Bertie says: 'Many motorists put themselves at unnecessary risk simply by having their seat poorly adjusted.

'You want to be about eight to ten inches from an air bag when it deploys. If your seat is too far back, then in a crash the seatbelt will lock and halt your body before it reaches the airbag.' First, adjust the bottom of the seat. You should be able to press the clutch to the floor without stretching and with the back of your thigh flat on the seat.
