Summary
As well as being one of the world's leading financial centres, the City of London is the place where more than 7,000 people have made their home.
Leading financiers used to have piedaterre flats in the Square Mile, but today an increasing number of young people choose to live here rather than commute. Around half of those opt for the Barbican, the famous Seventies residential development. The City itself home to St Paul's Cathedral is crammed with old churches and small, secretive pockets of greenery. The largest open garden space is Finsbury Circus Gardens, London's first public park. Studio flats in the Barbican start at Pounds 170,000 while one-bedroom apartments go for Pounds 250,000 and higher. A three or four-bedroom flat would start at Pounds 400,000. A one-bedroom flat elsewhere in the City might start at around Pounds 245,000 and a two-bedroom at Pounds 330,000.See the full content of this document
