G. B. writes: I asked solicitors WB Legal to press a claim for compensation for work-related hearing loss. The defendants offered Pounds 5,000, but the solicitors said a barrister should advise if it was worth going to court. Since then I have received no further information and the solicitors do not return calls or reply to emails. The Pounds 5,000 is a lot of money to me.

TO say that you have been let down would be putting it mildly. First of all your hearing suffers due to industrial noise and then, when you have Pounds 5,000 within your grasp, your own solicitors muck it up and leave you with nothing.
