As a cattle farmer in Western Australia, I don't often get the chance to flick through British newspapers. But on a visit to London last month I picked up The Mail on Sunday and was surprised to find myself the subject of a doublepage article. In the piece, Georgea Blakey, an English portrait artist and writer, described her adventures on an Australian reality television show that paired British girls with single Aussie farmers looking for wives.

I was among them - not that my friends would have recognised me. The Shane that Georgea described was a rural hard man with a dead rat under his sofa and a father who shoots cats for light entertainment. Er, only in vintage Paul Hogan sketches, Georgea.
