BRITISH buyers in Majorca's increasingly smart capital, Palma, have trebled in the past five years and such is its popularity, according to Jan Westwood of The Property Finders search consultancy, that now its outer 'barrios', or districts, are being discovered too.

Only five years ago, few had heard of the charming former fishing village of Portixol. 'Now, getting hold of a cottage here is as rare as hen's teeth,' says Westwood.
