Summary


For 45 years from 1945, the great blocs of West and East stared at each other over a nuclear abyss - the Cold War. Politically, it seemed like an absolute stalemate, in which nothing would ever change.

Political situations have their cultural manifestations. In a mesmerising exhibition, the Victoria & Albert Museum has pulled together the ways in which, from 1945 to 1970, the Soviets and the Nato countries presented themselves through film, furniture, art and a hundred other forms of arts, manufacture and craft.
