We're told career juggling is something we'll all have to get used to, like it or not. Susie Cole likes it a lot. Last year, she opened an interiors shop in Lyme Regis, Dorset, while continuing to work as a part-time nurse. Taking on the shop was a moment to shed her last vestige of regret for missing out on art school.
'Attending art school was considered a bit risquE in the 1960s,' she laughs. 'Good girls went into nursing, teaching or something secretarial, so I became a nurse.' And it's a job she loves, but it doesn't stanch the creative flow.
