Mrs J. T. writes: Nick Bryan of German broker FSW suggested I invest in FollowUs, which was expected to float on Aim at quite a premium. After many calls I invested Pounds 5,278, but after three months I had no certificate. Marvin Brooks of FSW apologised, saying FollowUs had unfortunately not floated. It had held my money instead for shares in a different company, Europe Vision. Again, I trusted FSW, but again, after more than four months, I still have no certificate.

I AM afraid this is a can of worms. But let's start with FollowUs. This is a genuine company with a real business allowing firms to keep track of vehicles, or parents their children, by monitoring the location of their mobile phone.

FollowUs has never announced why it scrapped its flotation earlier this year, but I can tell you that huge numbers of its shares fell into the hands of Atlantic Capital Partners, a German broking firm that was raided by police from Berlin and the City of London.
