HIGH STREET supermarket chains may spend millions boasting about how they are slashing the price of groceries, but five out of six shoppers don't believe them, according to a new report.

A survey of more than 2,000 people for trade magazine The Grocer found that retailers have a long way to go to convince them that they are doing enough to keep down food costs, despite schemes such as Tesco's Big Price Drop and Sainsbury's Brand Match.
