Summary
WE HAVE still not completely drained the swamp of Parliamentary expenses. The transition between one regime and another allows some MPs to continue to subsidise homes originally bought with taxpayers' money. They let out these flats and houses, while simultaneously claiming rent for more modest premises.
There are arguments in defence of this arrangement. It is hardly fair to force MPs to sell property when the market is slack, and when they were encouraged to buy it under the old lax arrangements.See the full content of this document
