GIOVANNI Trapattoni has claimed that he would have no problem taking a pay cut in order to remain as Ireland manager beyond the current 2010 World Cup campaign. The Italian, currently on a EUR 2m annual wage, accepts that the economic situation has changed utterly since he was appointed in the spring of last year and the FAI may not be in a position to be as generous if his contract is renewed.

'I haven't a problem about this,' Trapattoni said when quizzed as to whether he would be willing to accept a drop in salary. 'I have no problem with this question or this situation.
