I was out riding with the Hampshire Hunt trying to dodge the 'antis' around Bentley last Saturday a costly farce involving a dozen or so police when I stumbled across the other great issue traumatising the countryside: a travellers' encampment.
In a scruffy field normally used for grazing were assorted white vans, a JCB and two vast mobile homes, surrounded by a hastily erected palisade.
