ALL was benign at Turnberry yesterday but players heading for the 138th Open Championship were warned of impending brutality as the weather forecast told of cloud, rain and strengthening winds for next weekend.

Ryder Cup player Henrik Stenson saw enough in his practice round yesterday to predict the course could become a 'brutal monster' and Sandy Lyle, a former Open and US Masters winner, lost seven balls as he tried to negotiate the dense rough.
