WHEN Dawn Bracken heard that London had won the bid to host the 2012 Olympics she was quick off her marks and rushed to put her name down as a Games volunteer.

And her keenness paid off. Dawn, 50, a part-time swimming teacher in Chelmsford, Essex, was one of a handful of lucky applicants picked to work as 'Trailblazers' - a group of pre-Games volunteers who will work in administrative roles at the Canary Wharf headquarters of the London 2012 Organising Committee (Locog) from next January.
