There's a refreshing spin on pale and interesting this spring, from crystal grey eyes to cool, clean fragrances. 'Using moonlight shimmer creates a pretty, youthful look,' says L'Oreal Paris make- up artist Polly Osmond. And this season there's plenty to choose from. Next has launched a trio of glitter eyeliners; Lancome's Disco Silver nail polish leaves a fabulous trace of sparkle, and L'Oreal Paris's new Color Infallible eyeshadow in Time Resist White gives a divine luminous effect. Swarovski's venture into make-up is as bejewelled and crystalline as you'd expect with silvery, sparkling packaging. Fragrance has also embraced this simple purity with Chloe Eau de Toilette and Bulgari Omnia Crystalline both bursting with crisp notes. The unisex Essence Eau de Musc by Narciso Rodriguez smells as clean as soap but has a gentle warmth in its dry down. Emporio Armani Diamonds is a little more grown-up with notes of amber and spice. But a word of caution: you need a deep, contrasting colour to balance the ethereal look. 'Make sure you frame the paleness with dark lashes or strong eyebrows,' says Polly.
