Armed with cheap dollars and skills honed on the frantic dealing floors back home, the City of London invaded the Nevada Desert last week to take on the stetson wearing natives at their own game. The venue was Las Vegas, home to the 34th World Series of Poker, the blue riband event in a month-long tournament of a game that has evolved from seedy backrooms to the kitchen tables and computer screens of millions of ordinary homes.
