MARK McGHEE regards his Aberdeen experience as a dark cloud without a trace of a silver lining and admits that, with hindsight, he would never have taken the job. McGhee lasted just 18 months as manager at Pittodrie and was sacked in December with the club separated from the bottom of the SPL table by just two goals. The most notable moment of his tenure was a 9-0 thrashing at Celtic Park -- the worst result in the club's history -- and by then he knew he had no chance of being around long enough to effect the massive squad overhaul needed to drag the club on to a competitive footing.

Having written off the job as a wasted chapter of his managerial career, he's hoping prospective employers reflect his view that his year-and-a-half in the north east represents a blip with little relevance to his overall CV.
