THOSE of us who will spend the month of August attending the greatest sports event on earth will take heart from the latest news item from China that: 'Hotels and restaurants in Beijing have been asked to remove dog meat from their menus during the period of the Olympics and Paralympics.' It seems that the Beijing Food Safety Office is concerned that canine casseroles might offend animal rights groups and Western visitors. Well, the animal rights groups can fight their own battles, but as one of those Western visitors, I'm with the BFSO.
