ILLIONS of Britons will today lay wreaths at cenotaphs in honour of servicemen and women who gave up their lives for their country. But while our war dead are remembered and celebrated, many veterans and their families are fighting more private battles.

One is Marie Rogers, 70, who has been refused a war widow's pension. Her husband John died in July, just before his 80th birthday.
