Having Lyla has taught me so much. She was born last October after IUI [intrauterine insemination], which followed nine attempts with different fertility treatments. I now know what is important in life and how to live at a baby's pace. An email can always be sent tomorrow.

I had two miscarriages, and they were both very hard. They happened quite late, and the second time we'd told everyone I was pregnant. I remember being at a party just after I'd miscarried and someone who didn't realise congratulated me on my pregnancy. I was so upset I ran and hid in the loos. I was so sure I'd lose Lyla too that I had scans every couple of weeks.
