If you cut the umbilical cord with here in terms of players going out for the big games, then it will happen. You have to try and grow it on an indigenous basis. It probably would have happened in the past except for all the guys recruited from Ireland.' New York's team today contains the usual mix of Irish players and a few local faces. At underage level, though, there is a new generation of Irish- American players, born in the US, who have played all the way up the local club ranks.
