Ms J.G. writes: In June 2005, I attended a charity event where I bought some raffle tickets. I was fortunate in winning first prize, a ski chalet in Bulgaria. However, I still do not have my chalet. The property company that donated it as a prize says construction has been on hold because permission for the water supply to the resort development has been rescinded. I have struggled over the years to get feedback from the company, with many emails, calls and letters remaining unanswered. Does the property company have any legal obligation towards me?

THE letter you received in June 2005 could hardly be more cheerful. Written on the notepaper of Someplace Else, based in Fulham, west London, and signed by boss Ben Mason, it says: 'Congratulations on winning one of our Bulgarian ski chalets.'
