Summary
MY HUSBAND IS SPENDING ALL OUR MONEY ON DRINK When my husband moved to a major accountancy firm he started to drink heavily. He has been to various alcoholics' groups but is still drinking. In the past two years he has been made redundant twice and there have been complaints from his present employer. We had to remortgage as he could no longer pay off his credit cards and the debts were increasing. Now he has no cards but he takes money out using mine, though he denies this. Our GP says he is a chronic alcoholic. I would resent moving to a cheaper house to fund his drinking. He has been impotent for five years and won't do anything about it. Gone is the person who took the trouble to put a bottle of Chanel scent in an Easter egg. I would love to find someone who could take care of me. Do men look at women of 52?
Some alcoholics have to reach rock bottom before they take any serious action to stop drinking. Unless he accepts that he has a drink problem and does something about it he will run up even bigger debts. The time has come to look after yourself and your future before he either drinks himself to an early grave or runs through all the money. So call Al-Anon, the support group for spouses and families of alcoholics, on 020 7403 0888. Members gain strength and hope by sharing their experiences and learn to accept that they are not responsible for another person's addiction or their recovery from it.See the full content of this document
